Following up on earlier ideas Twitter is primarily monologue, then there is regurgitation of monologues (aka RT) — what ELSE is there?

BTW: Does anyone know of a way to “reverse” links on the web — like an app that creates backlinks on the fly? (e.g. enter a link + a number X, then the application creates a set of pages up to X links back from that link [perhaps also limited to up to Y days])? I think that would be kinda neat-o!

Website Optimization: Increasing Rankings or Increasing Conversions — Top Ranking Websites, More Visitors or Happy Customers?

2009 September 15
Posted by New Media Works

Your top priority should always be happy, happier + happiest customers!

:D

How to increase traffic of happy customers, you ask?

1. Create websites that convert ( because conversions will make both you + your customer happy :)

2. Point to those websites that are optimized for usability ( “easy to use” = easy to convert ;)

This is a “no nonsense” approach — so what’s the simple takeaway?

Perhaps you do not need to optimize your website for search engines like Google.

If you want users to convert, then you should optimize for conversion. Then, optimize to get the targeted traffic coming to your website — and perhaps this best targeted traffic may come from other websites than Google. (for example: “social networking” websites)

We’re here to help! :D

http://jr.ly/v98x is quite superficially interesting: point #16 contradicts many other points — smells like blind spirit…

16. Quality remains the most important quality.

The Internet debunks homogenous bulk goods. Only those who are outstanding, credible and exceptional will gain a steady following in the long run. Users’ demands have increased. Journalism must fulfill them and abide by its own frequently formulated principles.

Quality is different than quantity. Quality is qualitative — a matter of language. Quantity is quantitative — a matter of numbers.

Also links are history. Much of this smacks of clutrain hype that is little more than meaningless blather.

Not inspiring.
